I love the VooDoo! I already have the Ferrosi Pant, and like the VooDoo as well because the fabric is a little burlier and stand up to my abuse just great. Climbing, hiking and backpacking are my activities of choice for the VooDoo. And, because it has a fun style, I can wear them out to the brewery after a fun day outside, or even in to work!

I have used this T running and hiking, and my favorite part is that it wicks great, but doesn't feel like my plastic running jerseys! The cotton content in this piece is just right and gives me the comfort of cotton, but the wicking of a synthetic! On top of that, the FreshGuard odor treatment really does the trick when I get to stink!

The Essence styling is absolutely adorable on! The cap sleeve are great, as is the small piping for design. The fabric is a wool synthetic blend, and allows for a lightweight year round fabric that is soft, doesn't itch, and feels like a natural fiber, not like plastic! Great pick for your gear drawer!

The long sleeve Echo shirt from OR is fantastic for wicking moisture, keeping me cool and protecting me from the sun. It is a light, airey fabric that even has an anti-stink feature - you gotta love that! Soft fabric does not feel like "plastic," the way that some of my other synthetics do. This one is a clear winner in my drawer!

Gals, if you are tired of overheating in a hard shell, but still want great protection when you are out there, try this Encahinment Jacket. It is a super tightly woven soft shell material that blocks wind, sheds snow, and protects you from everything except the gnarliest downpours. The Schoeller fabric under the arms allows for dumping extra heat while allowing maximum movement. A favorite jacket in my outdoor quiver!

The Whirlwind hoody is that perfect just right layer when you need to cut the wind, but still have a fabric that moves with you and breathes really well. When you are active and it's 40-65 degrees, and you need something, don't grab a shell that will overheat you. Instead, take the Whirlwind for a nice tightly woven stretch softshell piece that should go with you at all times!

I Love my Aspire jacket from OR! OR takes a Gore 2 layer jacket and then adds a killer feature called "torso flo" which allows me to dump any additional heat by opening up the hem of my jacket. This zip from hem to pit can work 2 ways - hem up (to accommodate my harness or hipbelt) or pit down, as a more standard "pit zip." Really packable and seems to breathe better than my "non Gore" alternatives. AND under $200! Can't beat the Aspire!

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

The Vanguard Pants felt like fluid armor on my body. The fabric is soft and supple, and protective as hell. Great venting options, built in gaiters, beacon pocket... all together in one tight package. Ladies, Outdoor Research is generous in sizing: wear and 8 and the medium fits well with a little room. You will love this pant!

This piece surprised me. I thought - "OK a Gore Softshell... waterproof, breathable, quiet fabric..." but the Vanguard offered so much more: cross flow venting that didn't get in the way of my pack harness, removable powder skirt, Recco, well thought out pockets, and "thumb drive", a unique way to keep your sleeve from riding up while you are bombing down. On top of all of that, Outdoor Research guarantees every piece infinitely... This company is doing it right.

= The Stormbound. This is your coldest weather protection on the hill for sure. The down offers warmth, but also a freedom of movement in the jacket. Loaded with features like a removable powder skirt, vents, big inner pockets, my favorite feature in the built in balaclava! Who knew!
