I'm 5'6" and 130 riding the 169s. These are awesome skis in every condition from hard moguls to groomers and of course excellent in powder. The tips flop around on groomers but I've never lacked for edge hold and there is no chatter or slop in the ski. I would love to hear if anyone has these mounted up w/ dynafits as I'm considering taking the Barons off and going for a lighter rig. I mounted them +2 and they've been great. I also tried the 179s, thought they were better in bumps, bowls, and on groomers but went with the 169 for trees and control, weight, etc.

How awesome to have a boot that tours so well, has a great liner, and is actually stiff enough to ski hard in. The Scarpa Gea has a wider toebox than some previous models and a great liner which molds easily. It is definitely a wonderful touring boot and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a high performance backcountry boot. It is not a resort boot, but performs great there too!!

Hey, I'm 5'6" and 125 I ski nordica w105 in 170 and Volkl Aura 170...I'm torn between the 179 and the 169. I skis trees and open bowls...mostly backcountry but some resort skiing. I cannot decide btwn the 2 sizes. I would like to tour with these also...is the rocker difficult to deal with as far as skins etc?

Good backpack...ski straps on the side work well for a modified a-frame, there is too much material in the back padding construction for my taste...however it does let air escape nicely. There is a shovel pocket on the back but its not reinforced, and very small so I don't use it much. Overall it seems nice although a little pricey.

I've had my tracker for 2.5 years now and I've noticed that the search fxn tends to pause flashing "SE" on the screen, sometimes for up to 10 - 15 secs. When it pauses I'm usually not moving unduly fast nor am I flipping the beacon around or moving/holding it strange. This has become very frustrating and sometimes can slow me down considerably during practice if it happens 4 or 5 times as it has. Is this just how the beacon operates? If so I'm selling it and getting the T2 or a Mammut. I mostly ski B/C and don't need to stare at my beacon flashing SE at me when someone actually is buried.

Lucked out and got it for $59 on clearance...couldn't pass it up...great jacket, I'm 5'6" 135 and the small fit but a little tight w/ layers, got the Med and its perfect. They must have added length to the torso and sleeves b/c this jkt has the best length I've seen for both. Great hood coverage even with a helmet and reverse zip for belays! Too bad it doesn't come in 800 fill and w/o extra linings to keep it lighter. Still a good buy if you can get it around $100 or less.
