I originally bought this jacket as a zip-in liner for my North Face Mountain Parka, but quickly discovered that it was too warm to use when skiing except on very, very cold days. It is an excellent jacket by itself--water resistant but probably not waterproof enough for snow sports; I wore it out in 20 degree weather and was very comfortable. For a liner, get a 100 or 200 weight fleece--300 is too much. Good workmanship and quality.

I purchased the Marmot Expedition Mitt in February after returning from a very cold ski trip to Steamboat Springs. I returned to Steamboat last week and we again had a couple of cold days. I used a glove liner with the mitten and it was almost too warm! I have very small hands for a male and I have always had difficulty keeping my fingers warm even using chemical hand warmers. These mittens are perfect. They do run a little large—the men’s' small is a little big, but okay with liners, plus using mittens for the first time had its own learning curve.
