For years I wore skater shoes while riding cross country and downhill...Then I decided to try the five tens...This is my third pair and I swear I will never wear any other type of shoe when riding. They stick to the pedal amazing well - its like having clipless without having clipless...They are comfortable for an all day ride, and they are stylish. I also use them for hiking when I know we'll be doing a lot of granite climbing as they stick so well - there are times when I climb strait up a rock mountain without a single problem and my friends are all slipping and sliding and barely making it to the top...I actually feel sad for them. By far these shoes rock. I wear a size 10 and I got a size 10 and they fit perfect. Note: they don't wear down fast at all, unless you use them as everyday shoes then they can wear within a year. But if only used for riding - they last a very long time!
I have only used this jacket once and it does the job. On a snowshoeing trip the wind picked up and it was cold so I threw this jacket on and warmed up quickly. The only downside is that if you get overly warm wearing it and sweat the sweat builds up in the jacket and when you take it off, your clothing is all wet from sweat and can be chilly. But other than that I was quite happy with the job it performed on blocking the wind and water.
Unlike most people who probably buy this shovel for packing on trips or for avy-safety, etc., I purchased this shovel for everyday use. I have tendinitis in both hands so I need a lightweight shovel and this is perfect. The only reason I gave it a four instead of a five is because the bucket is very slick and sometimes when shoveling the snow flies off before I can throw it. I have gotten used to it now, so it doesn't bother me...Who would have ever thought someone would complain of the snow not sticking to the shovel???haha
