The fit around the stomach is unfortunately loose, and after the shrinking of washing and drying, that is more noticeable, as the shirt now hangs very loosely around the top of my jeans. The rest of the shirt fits well, and the idea is very cute, so that is unfortunate. I wear it only as a pajama shirt now.

I'm tall and thin, so others may not have the same issue. However, I would note that all other MP shirts in the same size fit me perfectly, so others who love the fit of their MP organics may have the same issue with this one shirt....best of luck!

The 32 I received had a 33 inch waist, which is perfectly reasonable breathing room. In true cargo style, they were by no means form fitting either. Some things are relative (like someone's assessment of themselves as a "skinny guy"), but the measuring tape I used to measure the waist of these shorts is standardized, so if you're in doubt, take your waist measurement before ordering.

but Backcountry.com has such a great shipping policy (free on most orders), and hassle-free returns and exchanges, I wouldn't sweat too much over any reviewer's assessment of sizing.

not likely: we actually got the 5/6 XS for our above average 4 year old, and it fits her nicely. I don't think she is as big as the average 6yo. you might find that the 7/8 S is alright for a large 5yo if a perfect fit isn't necessary; it's a comfortable casual summer play dress that my girls pull on and off over their suits, or change into to lounge around on hot afternoons...
