monica's Bio

I fell in love with skiing on the east coast through ski racing, but didn't know what I was missing until I moved to Jackson, WY in October of 2011 and skied powder for the first time. After my first western winter I made the decision to dive back into competitive skiing but in a different light. I have competed on the FWQ since 2012 and have enjoyed sharing my passion for being a skier and athlete with all of the amazing competitors from around the world. When I am not skiing I spent my time in the gym at Mountain Athlete or exploring the mountains.

Cozy, Warm Perfection.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

Whether you're running to the store to grab milk or standing at the top of the Jackson Hole tram in a white out you will can be confident in the Marmot Sling Shot that you will be warm, cozy and ready for that next gust of wind.

650-fill down has never felt so good. I am particularly in love with the reinforced elbow patched and cozy soft fleece lined neck/zipper. No tears in your jacket or chaffed face here.

Cheers Marmot to a great jacket for any cold temperature day.

[Size note: I am 5-7 125lb's and wear a Medium in this Jacket. I like to have a little extra room for layers underneath and prefer it less fitted.]

I hate having things around my waist so I always gravitate toward hand held hydration while heading out on long mountain runs. This bottle is perfect for any run around 10 miles with a pouch to fit some fuel/your phone in and just the right amount of water.

The straps allow you to tighten it to your hand and you don't even have to worry about it.

I can't say I was a fan of the old Star 7 style but with the new honeycomb tip and flattened tail, these skis RIP.

A lot of ripping female skiers will stray from a female ski- DON'T stray from these. This ski has an amazing swivel weight and a rip-able shape for groomers, pow or crud.

This ski is almost too fun.

This was my very first beacon and I used it for 3 seasons. Being a small female it is a little bit more bulky that one would like (it's about the size of my entire rib cage) and the harness doesn't exactly keep it from bouncing around BUT it's trustworthy. Battery life is good and it has never given me any issues.

A great beacon for beginners just learning about the backcountry or getting into backcountry skiing.

In high school I wore my classic Birkenstocks with wool socks underneath. Thankfully I have grown away from my hippie stage but I still wear my Birkenstocks on the reg.

The Gizeh has the comfort of the classic Arizona but with the style of your new-age gladiator sandal. Casual, comfortable and stylish this is one of my favorite every day slip ons.

This jacket has a great fit and is super street style chic. Living in a mountain town it's hard not to just throw on your gore-tex shell, but to have a piece like the Codetta to make you feel more street chic is amazing.

Gore-tex 3L will keep you dry in any down pour. Love the shaped cuff technology to keep more of your hands covered from the weather while still allowing you function.

Great piece, well done Arc'teryx

Best Mountain Running Shoe
5 5

I've run quick 7 mile flat lake loops to 20+ mile Teton mountain loops in these trail runners and my feet have never complained.
With a stiffer sole than most trails shoes you get great stability on dirt, rock, shale, or whatever you might encounter. The sole is grippy enough that you are confident when hoping rock to rock on stream crossings. I have a dancers foot and was worried about the arch support-- but have never had achey feet even after 5+ hours.

Best mountain running shoe I've had.

My new favorite layer!
5 5

I'm always looking for a cozy layer to keep me warm on and off the hill. The vaporizer is my new go to! With the same feel as the legendary Patagonia R1, this mid-layer brings you warmth and style.

A great layer to wear skiing or on a fall run/hike/bike. The hip pocket is perfect for your iPhone/iPod while running, hiking, biking and the side snap neck line adds a unique style that most base layers don't offer. My go-to hoodie for the fall or winter.

Best Womens Bib on The Market!
5 5

I skied in these pants over 100 days last season and they kept me warm on the coldest of days, dry on the most wet of days and just the right temperature when it started to heat up (not to mention they look brand new still).

The waterproofing is solid, they stayed dry in really wet snowfall and never soaked through while sitting on chairlifts.

The bib allows for extra warmth. As a female I am always cold, but because these pants allow for full body heat circulation with no waistline drafts I never got a chill. While the bibs do a great job at keeping heat in, the side zips allow for ventilation while hiking and on warmer days.

Durability. These things are tough. The reinforced cuffs are awesome. Most of the time I have holes in my cuffs before the New Year but, I wore these pants for over 100 days, hiking, mountaineering, skiing the resort hard and absolutely no rips!

Now ladies, we know it's all about how you look so listen here, some bibs give you that 'Mom Butt" look, not the case here! These pants have some serious style. With a color palette that will blow your mind, and a cuff zip to allow for a baggier or more fitted look around the ankle, there really is no going wrong. I am 5'7" 130lb's and the mediums fit perfect. I prefer things to be a little more loose fitting and I tend to wear the cuff zips completely unzipped (which result in a really rad bellbottom-esque effect) to cover most of my boots.

Honestly the most stylish tech Bib I have seen. I wouldn't wear anything else.

Pretty pumped on these. I bought these because I coach ski racing and constantly freeze while standing on the side of the hill, my hands always stay dry even on the biggest pow day and are consistently warm and dry thanks to the Gore-tex!
