Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This is my first SmartWool product (besides their awesome socks) and I was disappointed. I almost wonder if I got a knock-off, but I have more faith in Backcountry.com than that. I bought a medium for my 6'0", 165-lb frame. The length is too short, so my undershirt will come out the bottom. The sleeves are too short (I do have kind of long arms) so the thumb holes are a little uncomfortable. More importantly, the fit is not nearly as tight as it looks in the picture. The sleeves are loose which allows air to blow up my arm and the torso is also pretty loose. I also expected the material to be a lot softer.

It works well enough, but for the price, I think you could get something a LOT better. If you still want one I would try to find it in a store so you can try it on.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I could not get the rack on my car, so this is not a review of the entire functionality of the product.

I drive a 2011 Vovlo with the thick factory aero bars. I would say my bars are a lot thicker than normal, so you might have better luck. Unlike the Inno snow rack I purchased that came with longer screws, the bike kit does not. The manual states that there is an adapter kit with longer screws that I have yet to find anywhere online. I tried to find a match at a hardware store for the screws with no luck.

If I had been able to get the rack on my car it seems like it would have been sturdy enough to get the job done. I gave it 3 stars instead of 2 because someone with smaller bars might like the rack. It is nice that the rack comes with the lock cores while the other brands do not. Good luck!

I bought this rack on super sale. I would not have paid full price for it, but it is a decent rack.

I have a Volvo with thick aero factory bars and this rack just barely fit. I had to use the longer screws it came with (at least they came with it!) You don't need tools for installation, but it does take a bit of adjusting to get the fit snug. After you get them dialed it should be quicker to take them on and off in the future. The parts don't seem very robust. The plastic nuts are a little flimsy. Other racks are probably more solid.

The slide feature is kind of cool but it froze when i went from rain (Seattle) to snow (Steven's Pass). It is still easy to get the boards in and out tho. I was able to squeeze two boards side by side, but they were by no means wide boards. I measured the grip area at about 23" wide if you want to check your boards side by side. Never tried 4 but I wouldn't anticipate a problem. It was nice that the locks came with it. The other racks I saw didn't include the lock cores.

Overall, the rack will get the job done. I'm not particularly in love with it. If you can't get it during a sale I would go with one of the better racks.
