I use this jacket for alpine climbing & SAR (Diablo is great color). The fit is perfect (5'11" - 165lbs). Sleeves are long enough to keep your wrists covered when climbing. The fabric is very durable, water repellant and very breathable. It is a lighter weight softshell and will require layering when the temps drop. Hood is great under a helmet & the off center zip is a good touch. I prefer it to heavier softshells since I am warm natured. Combined with a superfine merino base layer and a mid weight zip neck thermal it is perfect when the temps are below 30 and windy.

My husband & I are full time guides and we both use these rain trousers. They only come out if the conditions are absolutely horrible so weigh is our primary consideration. Womens Medium weighs 225g. Durability is #2 since the conditions we are in are quite rough. They have survived scree runs and bumping into volcanic rock formations. We have bushwacked in them and laugh at the end that they didn't get shreded. Breathability #3 but I don't think anyone will ever make a rain trouser that breathes as well as we would hope. We use Event jackets but refuse to spend big $$$ on a gear item that has a high potential of getting damaged. At $50 we can go through 5 pairs of these vs one pair of Event trousers. These are a great investment, especially considering they will spend most of their life in your pack, not on your legs.

My wife & I are full time guides and have tries all kinds of hydration systems. Nothing compares to the reliability and flexibility of using this Tube Kit with 1L Platy bottles. We keep our water bottles in the side pockets of our pack, so we don't have to dig to get at them. One bottle has a drinking spout & the other this tube kit. I have used the same bit valve for years with no leaks or issues. Clean up is easy. Get the 90 degree shut off valve and the system is perfect.
