Fit, function, looks all work for me. I like the yellow color with the blue inside. Almost a school bus yellow - not a neon yellow. The zippers are the same blue of the inside with black zipper pulls. Overall, I like the scheme with my black pants.
Perfect amount of insulation for resort ski jacket. I've only used it for a 4-day ski trip, but had varying conditions during that trip. The days the sun was out and the wind wasn't really blowing, I went with a only long sleeve 150 IceBreaker underneath and that was perfect. When it was snowing and blowing I added a Marmot PowerTec Fleece over the IceBreaker and it was perfect. Was still able to layer without feeling packed in to the shell at all. Sorry, I can't say that I used the hood over my Smith Variant helmet. I liked the sleeve gaitors but I did actually pull my thumbs out of them when putting on my ski gloves. I like my gloves a little snug so with the gaitor was a little restrictive, but still helped in keeping out the snow from your wrists.
For me, the weight and fit were just what I looking for. I'm 5'10", 170 lb with an athletic build and the M was perfect. Roomy enough for layering but not baggy. The length was perfect. All the zippers and pockets worked great.
I knocked off 1-star because there may be a couple of slight issues with quality. One patch of the shell material on the front of the jacket was a little off in color. Especially in indoor lighting, but in natural light I did not notice it, so I decided not to return it. And I am typically extremely picky (because I don't make these purchases often). Also, there was a little fraying and loosening of the threads on the inside lining, but I just snapped off the loose threads and I don't think it will be an ongoing problem. I'm just saying that for you guys that really live in your jackets and ski a lot more than I do.
I am happy and I do recommend it. In fact, looking a the women's version for my daughter.
