I got this to carry as an everyday pack (to work, on my bike, around town, etc.). For these purposes it is excellent. It's a little hard on the bike, the pack doesn't wrap around you back very much, the padded back sheet is very stiff so it stays flat, and that pulls the shoulder straps out a little. But just use the chest strap and it keeps that from being a problem. This thing is totally bombproof though. I don't see needing another commuter bag for a very long time.

I'd been looking into Carhartt, and while this jacket definitely isn't Carhartt tough. I can see that this jacket can handle the job. It is thinner than I would have liked. But, I'm in Florida what do I need a beefy heavily insulated jacket for. I will be able to layer it well and wear it all the time. It needs to get a little dirty it looks a little preppy and trying too hard. But, with some stains and a little fraying in the cuffs from use I see this jacket becoming my favorite. Plus picked it up on a steal from SAC!

I recently was in a bike ride for charity of 150 miles. My pack was the envy of the other riders. When we stopped I had snacks to spare. When there was trouble I had the tools and the spare tubes. It fit everything I needed and that was when it was compressed. I still had the option to hold more. It is one of my fav pieces of equipment. I will now start taking it hiking and everywhere else I go.
