5 5

Familiarity: I've used it several times
Fit: Runs small
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 145 lbs

I originally ordered and returned the Strider shorts, since I found them to be cut on the small side.

I realized when returning the Striders that the Nine Trails shorts were more of what I was looking for: better coverage 4" vs 3.25" inseam and a zippered pocket!

Since the Strider shorts were snug, I sized up to a large in the 9 Trails (I am typically a medium, size 8)--the waist is a little big, but I like having extra room through the thighs.

Hands down Patagonia makes some of the best running apparel. The quality of the material is excellent!

I have two of these tanks and they are great. They are nice and lightweight and dry out quickly after hot, summer runs.

I absolutely love these baggies. They are so well made, and the colors are fantastic!

I'm about 5'5", weigh 140-145ish pounds, and bought a medium. Unlike some of the other Patagonia shorts (example running shorts--where I sized up to a large), a medium accommodates my muscular quads and rear.

I have mainly been wearing the shorts for hanging out and under my waders fly fishing. I think they will also work well for hiking, and intend to use them for that purpose soon.

Versatile Trout Rod
5 5

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I bought this rod in the 4 weight for my boyfriend. He loves it! It's the perfect weight for trout fishing in New England.

I also tried it out a few weekends ago. It casts beautifully. Definitely much lighter and faster action than my Redington Butter Stick.

The length is nice for fishing smaller streams, and enables accurate casting. However, the rod isn't so light that you will have trouble catching a large 16" rainbow--which my boyfriend managed to land this past weekend.

For those who are obsessed with made in the U.S. products, these rods are made here and come with a decent warranty.

Since it's a four piece configuration it packs down easily, which is perfect for travel.

I highly suggest ordering this rod before it sells out. Backcountry.com has a great price on it!

So you live in New England and you're wondering when you'll ever be able to run again because it keeps snowing and snowing and snowing. The Salomon Speedcross 3 GTX running shoe is the answer to your outdoor running withdrawal. Pair these with some Kahtoola Nanospikes and you're set for the horrible winter terrain.

These shoes are beasts in the snow and slush. No more wet feet and plenty of traction. Definitely worth getting the GTX model with the Gore-Tex. Plus, the speed lace system is great for lazy people like me.

I followed the other customer reviews and bought these a half size down from my regular running shoes in a size 8 (normally I buy running shoes one size large in an 8.5, as opposed to my measured 7.5). They are still a bit roomy, but since I'm wearing them in the cold, I wear them with thicker socks.

Get them on sale...they are completely worth it!
