I have this skirt in three colors. I wear it hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, apres ski and even out to dinner. It is great to snap on and off when I go to the yoga studio - or anytime I am wearing leggings and want to cover up before running out. It's great when staying in primitive huts in winter wearing over my baselayer.
You may have to experiment with sizing. I have three size medium and when I unsnap them and lay them on top of each other they are all different sizes buy about an inch! I am a size 8 and one of the mediums is a bit snug in the hips, one fits perfect, and one is roomy enough to wear over heavy ski pants. I tried a large and it was huge. As with all smartwool skirts the waist is a bit too big when it fits nicely in the hips. Still, it is one my favorite items in my winter closet!

I have been looking for a BROWN wool skirt to wear with boots and leggings. Nice quality, as expected from Smartwool, and yummy brown color. I was surprised that it is thinner than other smartwool skirts. In some light it is a bit see-through. However, this is not a problem over leggings. I bought a large because I do not like things tight. It is form fitting but not tight - over the hips and butt and a little too large in the waist. Works fine for me because I do not tuck in. Very comfortable.
