Gregg's Bio

I'm not much of a camper or hiker, but I do enjoy the outdoors. I am more of a gear person and love the technical aspects of it. When I watch a tv show about an expedition, I always pay close attention to what gear they use. I used to camp a lot as a kid but now I mostly just go to national parks and relax. Maybe one day I can write a review from some places in Thailand.

Also, on a side note, please don't wear North Face clothes just to be trendy, that makes you a complete douche bag. Wear North Face, Marmot, etc... because it fits what you do and your active lifestyle.

The fit is athletic. I am 6' @ 175lb, thin build and the large fits perfectly. The shirt wicks very good and drys very fast. I even wore it in the winter as a base layer and it kept me warm, but was very breathable. Great for all seasons as long as you use it as part of a layer in winter.Good texture, not scratchy or itchy.

I have never owned a soft shell before so I had no idea what to expect other than reviews I read. Once I got the jacket was amazed at just how much wind it blocks. the jacket is lighter than say the North Face Gravity or some of the others, but it is really resilient. I can easily wear it down to 40f with a base layer.

The fit is excellent. I am 6' @ 175lbs with a thin build and the large fits me great. Not too tight or too loose. The sleeve length is great as I have a hard time with sleeves being too short.

One thing to mention, be weary of the color listed. When I bought it I expected the color shown above under "Detail view" which is the same color listed on the Marmot site. The blue is not the same as pictured. On a side note, it is not the dull blue listed above under "more." The blue is actually a darker blue compared to "Detailed view" and really nice looking. It is a great color or I would have returned it.

What detergent did you use? If liquid, it could leave a residue that attracts water. If possible, use a powder detergent. If you want to purchase a good cleaner Granger G-wash or Nikwax are good choices.

The boot is very warm and comfortable to wear. They do run a little narrow, so if you have wide feet, this might not be for you. I typically wear an 11 and I had to get a 11.5 for my toes to have enough room.

pro- comfortable, nice looking, well made, very warm, but your feet will not be sweaty. Very stable on snow and ice. Very nice well thought out design. Very light weight, but still sturdy.

cons- Since the boot is considered mid-calf, where it flexes in the front ankle area gets a little indentation or sunken spot. They are not the easiest thing to take off.

Still, I would recommend these boots to anyone because the small things might just be me. For the function and fit, they are perfect.
