Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size
Height: 5' 5"
Weight: 140 lbs
Size Purchased: 7.5

I didn't buy this at backcountry but this shoe is bomb. It is a minimalistic, waterproof boot that you can run in easily. I opt to put superfeet in the shoes because it doesn't offer any support while walking on rocks and junk, but it's perfect after that. This shoe is for people who have good walking and running mechanics in general that don't have feet or other leg issues. Go see your physical therapist if you do. I've used it for climbing approaches, multi day backpacking in the rain, day hikes. It's so light and allows your foot and ankles to move. The soles provide excellent grip on surfaces. It holds up well in the elements and has not worn down on me yet. I've had it for 3 years now.

I'm a size 40.5 regular shoe dude and I got the 38.5 miuras. They do stretch, and it's nice and snug now. I tried the 39.5 and it was too big. A 39 might have worked, but I'm happy with the size I got and how it stretched out. It's a slightly aggressive shoe. I'm a casual climber dabbling in trad, sport and bouldering. The miuras function well for everything, in my humble opinion, though it may not be the best shoe for any particular type of climbing. I feel that the shoe is sensitive enough for those slab routes and it edges very well on those nubbins. It held up pretty well to foot jams in cracks, though I haven't done too much of it to say anything about the durability for it. The laces are easy to tighten and loosen, which makes taking on and off the shoe as easy as it gets for a laced shoe. I need to double knot the laces all the time, because they do untie easily. Hope this review helps. I don't write many of them, but I like my miuras.

I do notice that some of the stitching around the front of the shoe has shown some fray. The soles are getting worn out at a pretty steady rate and I expect to have to resole them after only one season (which may or may not be normal). I've been using them to climb in the gym and outdoors. The shoe probably isn't the most durable, however it's comfortable and performs well.

A previous reviewer mentioned that he wouldn't wear these out in the gym. I agree. I regret not heeding that tip. I'm going to buy some gym shoes and save these for the outdoors.
