I have been on a number of canyoneering trips since buying these shoes. Big Canyon, The Jug, West Clear Creek in Arizona. Mostly wet canyons with lots of scrambling and rock hopping. These shoes are at their best on wet slick rock, so much so that I can wall-walk on things my partners are slipping and sliding on. If you need super sticky rugged canyon shoes there is no better shoe.
With that said, using these on long downhill approaches have been painful. There is almost no cushion on these and they tend to beat up my feet after a couple miles of hauling gear over rough terrain. I recommend wearing thick socks or two layers on the approach to keep the blisters to a minimum. I will say my feet were better off that my friends wearing the 5.10 Savants.
