Seems to be a good skin. I have had it out climbing 4 times this season. Nice and light for the size and seems to go up when I want it too. I wish it had a tad more glide going down, but does well for a new skin.
I am 6' and 177#. I went with the 181 and love it. It really does ski like a 175 and I love the extra float in the powder. In area, I can turn it just as quickly as my old 175's. I too amy primarilty a back country guy who ski's in area once or twice a year just to get in some extra turns.
About every 4-5 years I find a new ski worth the money to upgrade. For me to put out this kind of cash the ski must make a noticeable difference in my ability to get down the hill. The Vector Voile definitely qualifies.
In particular I notice that with this ski, powder and trees are a breeze. I have been on the ski 6 times in the past 3 weeks. Once in area and 5 times in the back country. In area, I was able to get a much better feel for how it handles the trees and crud, simply because of the lift service. These skis are awesome. Even when skiing through "boarder" troughs in the trees, they respond instantly and go exaclty where I want them too. Not only that, but for 2 days in the back country, I could almost stay with my buddy Brick who used to race on the Dartmouth ski team. That says something to me.
Anyway, a great ski, hard to go wrong. Very light and climbs well, very important when you are in your 30th season of tele-ing on 59 year old legs.
