Backcountry.com’s Gearheads are your instant connection to gear knowledge. They’re passionate outdoor experts hell-bent on helping you find the right ski, saddle, or pro. Follow their adventures and exploits.

Here is some information about me. I am an avid snowboarder. I have been enjoying the powder of the Wasatch range for the past 10 years. I really enjoy a good tree run or short hike to get the untouched goods :) I dabble in park a little bit, but stay mostly in the powder any chance I get.
I love camping, hiking, and backpacking around the lakes of the Uintas.

Hi Lauren,
A lot of gloves and mittens do the waterproof/breathable insert because it helps pull away the moisture closer to your skin, making the glove more breathable. If the breathable layer was on the outside, your hand would sweat and get the insulation wet and then your hand would freeze from your own sweat being trapped in the glove.

Hey Paul,
You can typically go shorter on a board that is rockered underfoot because it will still float really well and provide stability, but will be easier to progress freestyle and park at a shorter length. I would probably to down to the 150cm if you're currently comfortable on a 155cm.
