I got this for my husband for his birthday after shopping around a lot and he LOVES IT. I looked at every other kind of men's softshell vest I could find. This vest fit him better than any of the others. He's a large or XL in most clothing and is sometimes sort of between sizes where L will be a little snug but XL is huge. The large in this vest fit him perfectly. The armholes are not too big/loose or too tight, it fits well in the body and shoulders but is not restrictive. It has 3 good-sized pockets that will fit his wallet, keys, phone, etc. Also the fabric is not too stiff like some softshell material and seems to be very resistant to pilling, pet hair and lint, unlike his old fleece vests. He can wear this to work and out to dinner afterwards and look presentable, unlike his fleece vests which always look a little ratty and are pet hair magnets. Also this vest is more wind and weather resistant than any fleece vest you will find. I also thought the price was quite decent when compared to prices on comparable vests (even before I got it with a 20% off coupon from Backcountry.)

Familiarity: I've used it several times

These are the only lightweight, non-insulated, waterproof but breathable, non-bulky gloves I have been able to find for cycling. I live in Colorado where it doesn't rain much but rare fall rains and mountain thunderstorms in the summer left my hands so cold I could barely shift gears. Now I can put these in my back pocket when riding over a pass and know my hands will stay warm and dry. It seems all the other waterproof gloves on the market and all the cycling-specific waterproof gloves are insulated for winter use and too hot, heavy and bulky to carry them with you when you are cycling. Or they aren't breathable. I even tried sticking a pair of medical exam gloves in my pocket but my hands would get clammy from sweat and then cold so it was no better than going bare-handed. Now I can actually have dry hands! They also have other advantages: the curved fit works well holding the handlebars, they have excellent dexterity and the fingers aren't too stiff so you can shift and brake easily. I also like the long cuffs although I can see other people might like the gloves to be shorter to save weight and bulkiness. One word of advice though: if you want to get these for cycling buy a size smaller than you normally would. I would normally be a size medium or large in a man's glove but went with a small for a closer fit with more dexterity. Luckily the fingers were still long enough but the palm fits better than when I tried my regular size. My husband also has a pair and he also had to go down a size.

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

For me lately all the Marmot pants are not cut very well unless you have skinny legs relative to your waist. I'm a cyclist so maybe I do have larger legs than average but I feel these are cut for a string bean-type figure or an older figure with a larger waist relative to thighs/hips, not for a younger, curvier or athletic person.

The fit on these is absolutely perfect, obviously they spent a lot of time perfecting the pattern. I have athletic thighs from cycling and for me a lot of pants are too big in the waist relative to the thighs/hips but these are great! The fabric is nice too, very stretchy and comfortable and it cuts the wind and repels light rain. The pants are flattering and look great - you can actually wear them out to dinner after your hike but the only thing is I got the black and they show a lot of dust and cat hair. I would advise getting a lighter or neutral color.

These are about the same weight as a light pair of sweat pants and very cozy. Nice thick fabric. My only complaint is that the waist is quite low and way too big for me. If the waist was just a little higher you could get away with it being loose but not with something so low-cut -they fall down! I do have an athletic/muscular build and a smallish waist in relation to my hips/thighs but even so I would say these are disproportionally bigger than they need to be in the waist. I don't know if it is true in all the sizes but in my size (large) it was a problem. I was really sorry to return them because I loved the fabric.
