Cross-country skiing is my first love (after my wife, kids and grandson). Running, biking, swimming, kayaking, gardening and winemaking round things out. Outdoors is better than in!

After buying cheapo sports shades for decades, finally ready to pull the trigger on Oakleys, based on reviews (and my desire to actually see detail). I'm trying to decide between black iridium and gray lenses (non-polarized). I like the crystal black frames but am afraid that the black irid shades will be too dark in slightly overcast days. Advice?

I need to replace my worn-out gaiters and the Crocs look to be the bomb but I wonder if they might be overkill. My main use is for off-track cross-country skiing. Anybody out there have experience with these for that purpose? FYI, I have Salomon Profil (not BC) bindings. Are the arch straps flexible enough that they would not be noticeable between the boot and binding? Also, I wear size 10-1/2 boots which puts me into a size large; however I wear non-bulky pants while skiing and wonder if a medium would be a better fit. Any advice would be appreciated.
