George's Bio

What gets me going? Great question. I love life. Long walks, short walks, road trips, different people, stories, excuses, laughter, challenges, cultures. All of it. Even the bad times. Lookin forward to more of each.

I reallly like these boots. I wear a 13 and these are perfect for my foot with a mid weight wool sock. Waterproof boot that has great traction even when walking through streams and slick rock.

I would rate these MUCH higher than my previous boots which included the Salewa Mtn Trainer GTX and the Asolo Fugitive. I stand 6'4" and 245#. The Salewa Mtn Trainers were wayyy too stiff with even a 60# pack on. The Fugitives were about a 1/2 size smaller on my right foot and my toe would hit. These are more comfortable than both and fit perfectly. I needed a superfeet green insole for the Salewa's to feel right, but the 520's fit perfect from the factory.

Great support, great traction, perfect stiffness/flexibility, and all around ideal for me. I do frequent long hikes, trail blazing/maintaining, and have a lot of weight carried around. I haven't gone more than 100 miles yet, but in the north east, I can't ask for more.

I've used this atleast 2 dozen times so far, and the only time I had a hard nights sleep was when it was in the 20's and I forgot to bring a sleeping pad. I was freeeeezing. Could barely sleep. I had no idea it was going to go that low, but besides that, with a sleeping pad or silk liner (better prep), this bag is great. Also, the sizing isn't bad either. I'm 6'4" and an athletic 240lbs. Not the roomiest but not bad either. I would recommend to anyone.
