Fit: Runs large

I had been looking to replace my Colombia rain jacket for awhile now because it doesn't keep my dry. I decided to go with TNF Allabout because the price was right and i've been a TNF brand whore for years now.

The Pros: The coat seems decent enough. I like that it has elastic cuffs to keep the rain out. My Colombia jacket only had velcro fasteners. The attached hood is also nice. Sure, I feel like a dork pulling it over my head but it'll keep me from getting wet.

The Cons: TNF's sizing has been wildly inconsistent over the years. I have TNF coats that i've purchased years ago that fit me in a size large. I had to go down a size for the Allabout rain jacket to a size medium (i'm 5',11", 185 lbs) and it fit perfectly.

Overall i'd give this rain jacket 4 stars out of 5. The coat is functionally decent and pretty stylish. I bought the High Rise Grey/Red combo and it looks great.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I bought TNF Gotham coat 1 year ago to help me get through the bitterly cold Minnesota winters, however, now that i've had a chance to give it a thorough field test I feel that it doesn't quite live up to its reputation. The coat serves its purpose if you're wearing it in anything above 0 degrees, but once you get to -5 and below it's utterly useless against the cold. The side pockets also have a weird design to them and don't seem to have enough depth to keep your hands warm. I would say if you're looking for a warm goose down jacket for frigid winters then go with Canada Goose.

I recently took delivery of my CG Lodge vest and it doesn't disappoint. I wore it as an underlayer with my TNF Gotham coat to protect against -20 windchill and my upper body was noticably warmer than just wearing my TNF Vicente fleece. My only regret is that I bought my TNF Gotham coat instead of the CG Chilliwack parka. Spending the extra money is well worth it imo. Oh, for some reason I noticed that CG gear is either fitted or sized for smaller people. If you like a little bit of extra room in your coat then I suggest ordering 1 size up. The sizing chart for the CG Lodge vest stated that a size medium would've worked for my frame, but I ordered a size large and it fits me perfectly.
