This is a heavy duty bike that really does climb easily with Pro-pedal engaged. The brakes are excellent and you won't find 203mm rotors on most bikes in this category, or rear thru-axles. The Race Face cranks are as stiff as XT's and way cooler looking. I like the fact it's a "Canadian" bike and has the same fun and capable feel of the old Kona of mine it's replacing. It glides over flat terrain almost under it's own momentum and the tire setup allows you to roll over the loosest of gravel without worries. They do fit pretty tightly, with an emphasis on aggressive riding, which makes DH a blast so keep that in mind when sizing. I'm 5' 9" , 30" inseam, and went with the 18" and it fits like a glove. This isn't a beginners bike and if you aren't a strong rider,or you're a weight weenie, you'd be better off looking at something less burly. If you're an intermediate rider the Slayer is a LOT of bike for you to progress on, and you'll keep it for years.
