I used a friend 720p Contour in Moab and at Sol Vista and loved it. I recently purchased the 1080p Contour along with the vented helmet mount. The camera is great- super easy to use with little setup required. Definitely download the Storyteller app as this will allow you to access the internal camera features such as resolution adjustment, frame rate, brightness, contrast, etc..
The camera uses two lasers for "view finding" so to speak, it basically lets you know what you're looking at. The REC on/off is easy to use with riding gloves on, even while riding down the trail. The lens can be rotated 180 degrees to allow for multiple mounting orientations and it removes the need to rotate the video during processes (great feature).
Everyone becomes torn between the go-pro or the the contour. This camera is easier to mount, works equally well, has a sleak design (isn't a box like the go-pro) so it sits lower on your mounting point which limits the amount of stuff (branches, etc) hitting it.
The sound quality it also fairly high- on down hill sections wind noise does over power most of the actual sound.
Overall i would suggest this camera to any adventure seeking person looking to capture their fun. This camera will get used for auto/motorcycle racing, skiing, kayaking, and mountain biking with me. Uses are pretty much endless.
