I love my transition jacket and use it for trailrunning and nordic skiing in any condition.
My question is, is there a jacket in the mhw range with same great athletic fit and material BUT a tad burlier and with a helmet compatable hood? I just ripped my ice/alpine climbing jacket during a fall and need a new one. I wear a medium in this and it's just right, can fit a powerstretch top underneath. I have had real problems finding a good alpine softshell that isn't baggy around the waist.

Let me start off by saying that these are decent gloves for snowball fights and light work outside.
For their intended use, alpine climbing they are not durable enough.
I've taken these gloves on one 3 pitch waterfall climb and one 7 pitch alpine route and the leather palms are completely trashed. I've glued several abrasion holes and one of the seams but I won't be taking them to anything serious anymore as I need gloves I can trust.
Let me just clarify that I haven't done anything special to these gloves that I haven't done to previous ones, the leather used simply not durable at all.
The best part is that since I bought them in Canada and I live in Norway I can't do much about it part from writing an honest review.

I honestly haven't worn any of my softshells or gtx jackets since I got this jackets two months ago, ice-climbing, skiing, work, shopping, drinking, winter camping, sex (I'm going to clarify that I was joking about that last one, but if would if I was to do it in outside in the winter). I half expected it to rip long ago but it hasn't yet. When it does I'll buy two more. The weight to warmth is unbeatable and I'm def buying MontBell sleeping bags after this.

I would get the Small/Reg. I normally use 31-32" inseam and bought the mediums. They're way big, I can fit a couple of expedition weight down pants underneath so they're too big for me, I basicly bought them for throwing over softshells so i wanted them kind of roomy, not this roomy tho. I'd upload a picture but I'm at work.

These are typical all-round cold weather softshells, I live in Northern Norway. Foul weather, whiteouts and zero visibility snowstorms is the most common weather desember through february.
I would use these pants for anything, just keep in mind that they aren't bibs and they don't have internal gaiters, I use my patagonia super guides for big mountain and deep powder, the Makalus are more comfortable so I wear them whenever it's not deep powder or sleeting sideways.
Paired with gaiters you'd have the full package tho.
