I got this board to replace my 4 year old Burton Vapor Camber board that I have repaired 5 times. I wanted a jack of all trades that charges down the mountain and gives me flexibility to goof around trying different things through the day. I am not a huge fan of rocker and most hybrids feel to squirrely for my taste.
I wanted to get a board that was slightly less stiff than the Vapor which is as stiff as the Custom X but I did not want to go as intermediate as a Custom. I also disliked how unforgiving the nose and tail were on the vapor specially around moguls if the contact points were focused on those areas.
The UMT does it. It is stiff enough to cut high speed chatter and a nose and tail glide through the rough stuff. This doesn't mean you can't carve. The board hold a mean edge and it charges down the mountain at unbelievable speed.
It's definitely not a park board though. It is great on jumps with its good pop and planted landing, but it is too stiff for jibs, boxes and rails.
On the pow it does as expected for a hybrid board. It can handle 4-10 inches but it will start to struggle with anything deeper than that or with heavier NW concrete. It is still better than a full camber all mountain board. Granted you can make the board work on deeper pow if the face is steep enough and/or you can keep a high speed.
