Just returned from a backpacking trip with this beauty and it performs exceptionally well. The rain was coming down so hard my tent was wet from rain drops splashing up under the rainfly. This tarp was completely waterproof and provided a much needed dry area for general camp activities such as cooking and packing unpacking our bags. I set up fairly close to the ground so we would not have to much water coming in from the sides which meant we rubbed against the underside of it many times and it did not leak a single drop of water. It did seem a tad heavy to carry at the reported 20oz but after the monsoon we endured I would have carried 10 times that weight for the protection it offered.

Yes this appears to be almost identical to the 103's that were out a couple years back. I owned a pair of the 103's and absolutely loved them except for 1 detail, the tread design. It had plenty of grip when new but is very shallow and once it wore a bit was sketchy in wet conditions. I have looked at the 105's more than once and will probably buy them even though the tread design is the same as previous 103's The Ultra 104's had a better tread design but did not hold up as well to the abuse that I put shoes through.

Check out The North Face Thunder Down Jacket. It is an alpine fit, and has smaller down chambers so you dont look like the sta-puff marshmallow man. I am 6'2" and just picked up the large and it fits quite nicely! With the 800 fill it takes less down to accomplish the same task, keep you warm! I actually was able to wear my TNF Khumbu fleece over the top of it.

Purchased these last year, I was skeptical at first as the package said they are designed to keep you cool and dry? I now rarely am without them in the cold months, they work great even under jeans. They also dont seem to gather any odors like other technical gear has a tendency to even after wearing for 2 or 3 days without washing (make sure you do put some regular underwear on first of course). I have worn them in temps from 65 down to 20 degrees, on many different hiking excursions, and have been extremely happy with them. I also purchased a pair for my brother, he hates long underwear that are tight or compressive and also he is not a big fan of synthetics....he only takes them off to wash them now! They have a somewhat loose fit which we both enjoy. I am 6'2", 185, with a 34" waist and 34" inseam and the medium fits me perfect. Highly recommend this product.
