I've used this on a couple day hikes and when traveling. If I know that I will be taking fishing equipment on a backpacking trip I take this pack to carry my bait, water, and a camera. It carries a water bottle a fleece and small slr pretty comfortably. I've only had two issues with it the first is breathability my back get's pretty sweaty when I carry this little pack. The second is the straps tend to pull to the outside when the pack is fully loaded. I think a basic chest strap would fix this. I think the pack weight is worth the trade offs and I plan to continue using this pack.

I used this on a trip to the BWCA and it worked better than expected it handled heavy loads really well. This pack carried most of the gear for two people and kept every thing dry during a couple of rains. It never got dunked so I can't speak for it'water proofing but based on the quality of the product I would assume it would work as described.

Worth the extra money over the entry level Teva's. The sole is noticeably softer and gets better traction. I used these on a six day canoe trip in the boundary waters and had intended to change into different shoes for the portages but most of the time I just used my sandals and I had no issues.
