dawn's Bio

Grew up playing in the Adirondack mountains in Upstate New York, moved to the Rockies, took a two-year detour to Asia, worked on Madison Ave for longer than I'd planned, and at long last moved back to the Rockies. Could see living on the West Coast, frolicking in the Pacific, but would miss freezing-cold blizzards.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit: True to size

i ran on the road with these, and i did an uphill hike in them. they were a tiny bit stiff for road running (not their intended use) but were great for hiking. very lightweight, stiff enough sole to not get poked by rocks, and ample traction make this a good all-around trail shoe, imo. plus it's eco-friendly, which always feels good.
i wear a size 5 shoe but typically go with a 5.5 for added toe room on trails, but i should've stuck with a 5 in the scarpa.

these shoes are superlight and comfy when you put them on, but i'm not sure how i feel about them trail running yet. i took them on a trail run and was not used to the minimalist feel and thin, flexible sole. i could feel the rocks and roots underneath, and my feet were definitely working in a different way, as people say they do in these low-profile shoes. when i took them on a hike with lots of hills, they were uncomfortable.
but since they're new and a new style, i've decided to give myself time to break them in running, though i think they're not suitable for hiking.
if nothing else they're comfy for kicking around.

i have a tough time finding sunglasses and headphones, and i can't wear cute headbands. these headphones have a bendable wire band, like the description says, and it's nicely padded. i got these for work for when it's noisy, and though they're not noise-cancelling, they do the job well. hallelujah.

the perfect amount of girth, rocker, and stiffness, this ski is stable as they come. i skied on it twice in wind-buffed and high-density pow, and it took almost no time to break in. speedy, grippy, and floaty--instant love if where you live has deep snow and steeps.

just skied deep powder last weekend in very cold temps wearing these and stayed dry and warm. the fit is perfect, too, not restrictive around the knees like some women's pants, but not at all baggy. very flattering. i got the purple, and the color is brighter than pictured, which i love.

i love these goggles; i own three pair. they're the only goggles that fit my small nose. i got the half tone red and have gotten compliments on their look. they're more gray than white, but i like that. caveat: remember not to wipe the lens, only blot. stuffing the bag or tissues in them when wet helps dry them out.

for me, this was very loose and wouldn't stay up around my neck. and it wasn't long enough to tuck into my goggles and jacket. i wore it once skiing and i guess lost it that day, because i can't find it anywhere. fabric wasn't bad, felt light and cool, but it wasn't right for me.
