Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I've owned and hiked with my Fugitives for close to 4 years now, primarily hiking in Maine...so rocky/northeastern woods terrarin. Some jaunts up Katadhin and surrounding mountains etc. I've only been satisfied with them really, even after 4 years they're still in decent shape (athough I did apply some nickwax to them last year to retain some of the waterproofing). But they've always kept my feet dry despite countless creek crossings and even winter hikes (with a decent pair of wool socks my feet stayed warm too. I got some blisters initially, but once the boots got broken in a bit that stopped happening. Once these finally bite it I'll likely be looking for another pair of asolo's.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

My old pair of ski pants were Orage and I really liked em, so I grabbed these. I only have about a weeks worth of skiing on them so far but I'm very happy. The fit is decent, I'm tall (6'3" , and somewhat thin (33" waist) so I went with the large, which was the same as my last pair. The length is fine but I do need to cinch the waist down (which is fine). No deep powder days yet here, but they've kept me nice and dry. The vents are great for keeping comfortable in line/walking to and from the truck (and no doubt will be even better come spring skiing). I'll try and remember to edit this review with an update after the season.

I mostly use these when I'm going out for a jog on a cold day, and they do the job just fine. They're nice and light with a good fit, and keep my hands comfortably warm. If its cold enough outside that these aren't enough its likely too cold to go running (for me at least). The coldest I've gone jogging with these was about 20F, and my hands were still fine. As another reviewer said they aren't great when wet, but other than that I'm quite happy with them. For skiing or hiking I'll grab something heavier, but for an after work jog these fit the bill perfectly.

Much better than a baseball hat at keeping the sun at bay. I used mine mostly during the summer down in the Gulf of Mexico doing work offshore, where there's only the sun and very little shade. It performed fine, was comfortable, and kept the sun at bay. The few times I was outside in a squall it did its job and kept the rain off, so no complaints there. It seems to be holding up fine too, despite being crushed in various bags etc during movements, so again, no complaints. Their sizing seems accurate as the large fits me well and thats what my hat size is. Overall a very nice hat!

Very happy with these gloves, they served me well for a season of skiing up here in Maine (the only reason it won't be two seasons is because of another sweet SAC deal), and have now been working for my winter "everyday" gloves. I've been quite happy with them as they've kept my hands warm in sub-zero temps (I think the coldest day was -10 or 15 before the windchill). I used their sizing chart to determine I was a large (which is what I usually wear for gloves) and that was accurate. The insulation is nice but not bulky enough to really influence dexterity by any meaningful margin (I'd rather have a bit more warmth anyway), and of course the Gore-tex keeps you dry. My only complaint (and the docking of the star) is the wrist cinch seemed bulky, I was always fumbling with getting a good "seal" between my jacket and gloves, I'd always get it sealed...it would just require some fiddling.

I've always been a big fan of Merrells, specifically these Chameleons. As some reviews here have noted the fit can be a little odd at first but once you get used to it they are fantastic. Mine have held up through miles and miles of hikes and have always kept my feet comfortable and dry. I also work in the marine industry, and while on watch rubber steel toes are the order of the day for just walking around the deck off watch these have help up well and kept the salt water at bay (with no degradation from the salt as far as I can tell). I've been very pleased with these shoes, and once these wear out my next pair will likely be another set of Chameleons!
