As my first bike I do not have much to compare it to, but I do have to say this bike is pretty damn tough. Its been dropped a handful of times and the only indicator is a couple of scratches and the grips being beat up. It handles everything I've ridden out here in Colorado (Betasso Preserve, Buffalo Creek, Centennial Cone and the Keystone bike park) flawlessly.
I do have some cons but they arent major.
the 1x drivetrain lacks especially for long steep ascents. The other is with the competitive cyclist. The mission's spec sheets when I bought this said it had a 34 float front shock with 160mm of travel (for the 1.0 model). However backcountry shrugged this off and changed the description when I brought it up. I cant blame em but still.
Overall I would recommend this bike to others. Its serious bang for your buck is also a big plus. It also tears up downhill sections. Get some!
