Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: True to size

I had owned a North Face Venture from 2009 to 2011, and it had served me well, showing zero signs of wear when I lost it in 2011. Because of glowing reviews of the Marmot Precip, and because the Precip came in a flattering feminine shape (and at that time the Venture did not), I bought a Precip. The Precip was impressively waterproof for the first year, but after that the inside coating of the fabric began to break up. At 3 years old, my $100 Precip has no water-repellent qualities other than those it acquires by means of a smelly aerosol that costs $9 a bottle.

How easy is it to cycle with this pack, full, on one's back? My sister and I plan to bring folding bikes to Sweden for Midsummer. The most we'll be riding the bikes is about 18 miles, but I imagine there will be many times when we'll carry the gear on our backs off the bikes as well.
