I've had this jacket for a couple of years and is exactly what the description says..... a protection without the bells and whistles rain jacket. There are absolutely no extras. . . thus the 7 oz. weight. I take this on all my backpacking trips because it is light and comfortable with the pack. As Ian said below, it fits tight. I'm about the same size as Ian and I got large as well. I wished I would have gotten an XL, because there is not much room for layering. Although it has kept me dry numerous times,I hesitate boasting about it's waterproof abilities because I have not been in a downpour with it. My wife has the Marmot Precip and I'm always jealous of it. It has the pit zips and a bit sturdier material for not much more in weight. I also wear it quite a bit road and mountain biking when I know it is going to be cold.
I've had this jacket for three years now and it is still amazing. It is warm, lightweight, and packs small. I agree with the user below that it is hard to wear above freezing....I had my doubts when I got it out of the box, because it it packs so small and the material doesn't feel that durable. It didn't take long to change mind...it has been used on a lot of backpacking trips and it still looks brand new. Another plus, it packs down to the perfect sized mummy-bag stuff pillow.
High quality product....it says to use it with rectangular mattress pads but it worked just fine with our Therma Rest Pro LIte Plus'. The temp didn't get below the mid 40's so I can't attest to the low end. However, we were plenty warm in the 40's - enough to have to unzip.
This bag is as good as everybody has stated below, but beware. My wife and I found out real fast that cuddling up is not necessarily a good thing when hoisting 40 lbs. packs all day. It sounds nice and romantic, but in reality it's pretty gross. Sometimes a little distance is a good thing when you haven't showered in a few days.....just our opinion.
I'm curious, Is it advisable to purify 3 liters at one time in the same container, with three tablets, of course? Do people do this?
