canadian_chica's Bio

Originally from the Canadian Prairies now spend my time playing in the mountains of Colorado. Became an expert in cold weather conditions from years of northern Canadian winters and am seriously being spoiled by the warm winters here in CO.
Have a soft spot for flat-land activities like nordic skiing, but now devote most time to trail running, mountain biking, and backpacking in the summer. Skiing occupies most of my winter fun time.

I bought these for my little sister for Christmas last year. Big mistake, I should've kept them for myself. They are toasty, comfy, pretty much perfect in everyway. I end up borrowing them from her everytime that I am at home, and one of these times she's not getting them back. My only comment is that they are one the verge of being heavy-weight compared to my other mid-weight socks.

I love this jacket! I bought the green over a year ago. Warning it is bri-ight! My friends joke that they would never lose me on the trail. I use it backpacking/hiking and even around town. It is super effective as a windbreaker and after I sprayed mine down it is moderately water resistant (But definitely not waterproof, will not stand up to all day downpour). Incredibly lightweight and packs down to nearly nothing, ideal for fair-weather backpacking. The sleeves are longer than your average jacket, which I enjoy, with my gorilla arms. Note that the sizes fit according to the sizing chart, but might be a tad different than other brands. Would give it 5 stars if it was slightly more water resistant.

I bought these pants this spring for the upcoming field season. I ended up wearing them around town as casual wear for months before putting them to the real test. As far durability goes, I have no doubt these are going to last me for multiple seasons. The triple-stitched seams means no crotch-ripping after 1 summer, and the design means that I won't mind wearing them on town days either. They are cut more flattering than other Carhartt pants (Including the other female-friendly styles) but I don't really notice the spandex. With this new cut there is decidedly less room for a pair of long underwear in my regular size. All in all my new favourite work pant.

I got this top for my sister for our week of trekking in Patagonia since she tends to always be cold. She wore it almost everyday and absolutely raved about how it actually kept her warm on the cool drizzly days. It is great as a next to skin layer or even with a light-weight top under (If you buy your regular size that will probably be all that will fit comfortably) the only issue is adding anymore layers over it, pretty much just a shell or windshirt would work. Still a great top, so thankful that I didn't have to spend the week listening to her gripe about the cold!

Woot! These are great! Once you get yourself in them (which can be a bit of struggle till you get a system sorted out)everything stay puts. I felt very secure in them and noticed a difference right away. I wear them for trail running and skiing. The 3/4 length is perfect since they stop just short of the top of my boot. There is a definite decrease in muscle fatigue, I ski/run longer/faster when I'm wearing these bad boys. There is an inside key pocket at the waist, but with how tight these are not sure how comfy a key would be sitting there.

I got this toque (That's right, it's a toque) in cream and so happy with it. First it is super warm, with fleece lining along the band and the high gauge wool. Second it is so cute, I love wearing it all the time, perfect fit with the iconic pompom. Love it, but be warned it is surprisingly toasty, probably ideal for the chilliest days.

I have this skirt in large in the blue and I love it. Fits true to size. The hint of stretch makes it super comfortable as does the wide waistband. This skirt transitions easily from sitting in a crowded bus in South America to sitting in the office in Colorado. Used to despise wearing skirts but this one changed my mind!
