This is a great layering piece. For the sale price, I don't think that there's anything better. The construction is solid, the fill is uniform and the fit is about right. I'm 6'1" and have a long torso and arms and aside from slight bagginess in the body, the large fits great. The elastic wristbands are a bit odd at first but I ended up really liking them, though they are a little tight even on my narrowish wrists. I love the purple color and the pertex fabric. I wore this as my only insulating layer on a three day through hike in the Olympic National Forest. Being a rain forest, the weather was wet, and because our summer started so late here, I was in snow for one of the days and near the snow level on another. Even with temps into the low thirties, gusting winds and a lot of ambient moisture, as well as pouring rain, the jacket kept me plenty warm with just an OR Helium rain jacket over the top of it. I absolutely recommend this to anyone looking for a good insulating piece. It performed great even in some of the worst wet weather circumstances you're likely to come across short of a tropical storm.
there's a video demonstration of the jacket here:
I bought these to be an all around pant that I can wear to work and then to the dog park or hiking. And that's what these pants are. They are very comfortable and seem to be made very well of durable but soft material. They are not as hard wearing as a carhart type pant but I don't doubt that these will hold up well for a long time. They are also a lot more comfortable right off the rack than a heavier pant would be and with the inseam gusset they give a nice amount of freedom of movement. They wash well, I have gotten them fairly muddy and they came clean easily. My only question is why they have the extra pocket on the right side. It seems a little unnecessary but maybe that's just their way of standing out. Overall I think these are my new favorite pants and they will be taking the crown from comfortable climbing pants by Prana and Mammut.
