Funny to read another review about skiing with a tree limb in hand. These break easily or me (with odd failure modes). They also jostle at the connections, which I guess is to prevent from freezing. I would probably pass up. They do compact VERY nicely, like very few other poles.

Also have to say the Black Diamond service and warranty folks are absolutely amazing. Great company.

These boots were comfortable from day 1 (which concerned me slightly) but as they break in, they just keep getting better. Pretty stiff and excellent for stability and some technical applications, but also flexible enough to be comfortable on easy hikes.

They are very waterproof up to the tongue -- but the upper laces will infiltrate water at the tongue seam if its fully submerged, so gaiters recommended if you'll have to cross water above low ankle depth.

Very warm for what they are - I wouldn't necessarily do any serious winter mountaineering adventures in them but then again my feet get cold in all winter applications.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Ordered this saddle and was hesitant about the lack of cushioning and large cut out. But wow. The saddle sits perfectly (for me). It wouldn't be great for shorter rides, but the comfort level you get when you first sit on is the same after hours and hours of riding. Stiff and non-intrusive and no problems with numbness or tingling or sores or anything that comes from non-quite-right saddle. I will never ride with another saddle on my road bike, and I'm contemplating putting one on my mountain bike. Every butt is different but this is the perfect saddle for me.
