I wanted to get a longer warm coat that was good-looking enough to wear to work, but durable enough to walk the dog when it's stormy out, and this coat is it! I got it in the grey, and the fabric is very wind-, water- and dirt-repellent. My dog jumped on me when we were out in the snow/slush, and you can't see any dirt/salt marks. There are some nice smaller details, too - the soft interior of the pockets is nice, as is the way the fur zips off the hood (I had another similar jacket that had 12 buttons to remove the hood fur, and that was a pain).
I got the large and find the fit slightly puffy through my torso, though I also tried the medium and that was way too tight in the shoulders and waist (I'm 5'10", 160#), but it's not a deal breaker at all. I like the length, too - it comes to about 2/3 down my thigh - long enough for warm coverage, but not so long I feel like I'm trapped in a potato sack. The double zipper also makes for added mobility when necessary.
I don't think I've ever spent so much on a piece of clothing, but it's clear that this coat was a good investment - I have no doubt it will stand up for years, both in durability and fashion. I only wish I had bought it earlier in the season so I would have had more time to wear it this year! Maybe the groundhog was wrong and I'll get another month out of it before having to put it away til next winter.
