Familiarity: I've used it several times
i really like this pack. i ski mainly sidecountry or day touring trips and i am fairly petite (5'3") so i love the small size. along with my probe and shovel (in the avy gear pocket) i have room for food & water, an extra layer (as long as it packs down well), skins, sunscreen, compass, map, sunnies/goggles, and small first aid kit. i recommend it 100% if you are interested in a pack for sidecountry as it's small enough to ride with you on the lifts fairly easily, or if you're short and interested in a pack that actually fits you. the helmet sling is a nice feature-- it fits my helmet (smith holt sz small w/ ear pads removed) perfectly and is very easy to use.
however, although it makes great use of the space, it's still pretty small, so it would be hard to fit all the necessities for anything longer than a day's tour.
only downside: the avalung (on mine at least) is on the left shoulder and there is a largish hard box integrated in the strap. i prefer to carry other things on that shoulder (just other bags, my boots, etc mainly in transit to skiing) and it's a little annoying.
