These were great on the Grand Canyon. Arms never got tired like on the heavy wooden oars. Great response and strength.
I needed a helmet I could use in the winter for the snow and summer for the whitewater. I love the Bern helmets. With snap in features they work well for all seasons. I used this helmet for a 16 day whitewater trip on the Grand Canyon section of the Colorado river. It fit snug, but shaped to my head soon enough. and the visor was actually functional, not just fashion.
-Here it is in use on Hermit Rapid. Kept my head safe when gravity pulled me out the back.
I'm 6'1" 170 very athletic build, and I have a med. I like the closer, athletic fit. The length in the waist and arms is perfect and it is a close but by no means snug fit. I could easily fit a down midlayer jacket under it. Depending on what the extra ten pounds is from and where is sits you may need a large.
As I said in my other review I loved this jacket, for another idea of it's waterproofing it kept my head dry in the hood as the back of my head was in a creek for about forty minutes. No water got through, I was very heartbroken when the EMTs in the ambulance had to cut it off me. But I love the look so much I kept it and will stitch it up again. The external taping is an awesome look.
you are actually able to unzip them from the bottom and wear the jacket over your waist belt. They should not get in the way at all and the jacket won't ride up under your waist belt.
