Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
Fit: True to size

I bought the Icebreaker based on other customer reviews here on Backcountry. All those comments were correct - it's a great brand with a great fitting top. I really liked the merino as a base layer instead of other materials. But as I zipped up the neck, I knew I could not keep the top. The angle of the zipper isn't the problem, but the end of the zipper came in under my jaw and rested painfully there no matter how I moved my neck. No way would I be able to wear it zipped for any period of time, and I am a up-to-the-neck turtleneck type of person. Bummed that this particular style didn't work, but would buy Icebreaker again anytime. Backcountry online support was great in helping me choose an alternative top when I returned this, BTW.

I wanted a fleece that wouldn't immediately pill, so I thought the Osito "fur" would be a good replacement. Problem was the fit: sleeves too short and the rest of the jacket just seemed bulky. Felt like a teddy bear in it, and not in a cuddly way. I ended up returning it and getting a TKA fleece that fits closer to the body and has longer sleeves. I still admire them on other people, it just wasn't for me (5'11", 160lbs. Bought Large.)

Familiarity: I've used it several times

My hiking is along the asphalt plains of suburbia, but it has been a great layering piece when I've gone to the gym, grocery store, park, and pumpkin patch. Looks and works so much better than the Michelin Man puffy vests. I've had a few small snags resulting from a brush with Velcro, and I wish it were a smidge longer (I'm 5'10" and the medium hits at the top of my hips), but as a whole it moves with me and never rides up. Looking forward to pairing it with some Capilene 2 and 3 pullovers when it gets even colder.
