Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Fit: Runs large

I traveled RTW in these and was sadly let down by their durability. After about 7 or 8 hand washes, they never quite fit the same again. If I had a dryer at my disposal, I suppose they might have shrunk back to their original size (a 6), but drying on the line, there was no hope.

Was deciding between this tent and REI Quarterdome for my family's 22 day trip on Iceland's Ring Road. The ARX XL appealed to me for the additional head room which makes this tent feel quite a bit roomier than its floor space. That's important to my 6'4" husband! Fits our crew well...but our two kids are still pretty small (5 yr old and a 14 month old). Sets up quickly/easily despite the very simplified instructions. I was a little worried about leaks, as the mesh panels run practically down to the ground, but I haven't experienced any issues yet.

We're getting ready to set off on an 11 month RTW trip that will take us thru much of Asia & Oceania. The Precip is the linchpin item in our packing regimen, as I'm sure we'll bump up against the monsoon along the way. This pint-size version is as good as the full-size, and as the other reviewers mentioned, it rolls up into practically nothing.

I have to agree with the other reviewers, the Momentum Jacket is a slick item, but it's the kind of article of clothing that fits a narrow set of requirements. For example, if you happen to be looking for a layering piece (as I was), I don't think this one is for you. The inside is a certain kind of fleece, but not the kind thats particularly soft (i.e. something you'd want to snuggle up in after being on the slopes all day). This is, however a perfect jogging outer layer for use in somplace where it doesn't get too cold (think late spring in New England).
