Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is a great low-end bag for backpacking and camping. I have used it in 5 degree weather many times and it's never failed me. I admit I sleep warmer than the average person but I think the reviews about it being a cold-sleeping bag are incorrect. Sleeping bag temp ratings are made for bags that are used in a tent with a mattress. I carry a therma-rest self inflating pad with an old Easy-Up Shade cover that I re-purposed for backpacking as a ground cloth/shelter and deal with the 1.3 pound allowance for the extra gear so I can stay warm and dry even in coastal downpours and fog. I spend several weeks (20+) every year backpacking, kayaking, camping, photography shoots, outdoor concerts and the like and have put this through a lot of use and abuse. This like all of the Kelty products I have used comes through with high marks.
