Cool concept, but design will have to be modified and improved. Uphill ascents are very efficient, definitely keep up with my free-heeling friends. They end up waiting for me during transitions and on traverses. Make sure to have a scraping tool in your pack at all times for iced over joints. The split decision allows boarders to access backcountry without the burden of post-holing, but you definitely sacrifice some downhill performance(mainly due to weight) in return for uphill efficiency. Would recommend buying one, but do not expect it to eliminate all of your troubles.
