Tyson's Bio

The details of my life are actually quite inconsequential... I guess I am just an average ordinary guy who loves to be in the outdoors with my buddies. I started to develop a love for the outdoors as a young child; where my Mom says the first night I ever slept through the night as a baby was in a tent. I started skiing and ridding a two-wheeler when I was just 2 years old, so I guess you can say I have been at it for a while. Throughout high school I ski raced and pursued bike racing until I got to college where I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder. I stopped competitive skiing and Mt. Biking because of time constraints and a change in desirous, but continued to ski on my own terms. When I had the chance to start competing in Big Mt. Competitions I enjoyed the atmosphere and continued to test my luck.

While I have been very lucky to experience what I have as a professional skier from that point on, I have not lost my innate desire to be outside playing with nature and experiencing life in its freest form. Life is full of challenges, but playing outside and having the right gear to use in the process is my passion. Thanks to Backcountry.com and the others that make my life possible this has become easy and fun.

When I go ski I wan to have as much fun as I can. When I first tried the Cyclic, "I was hooked on a feeling." A feeling of invincibility and joy. Every turn was not easy, but fun. I could slash, and carve at high speeds with a very stable confidence. Powder was a dream, as the perfect rocker profile made it so I barely had to lean back at all, so my legs did not get tired. I have had a few days on this ski since my first test, and I learn more about my skiing and how to play more an more every time. So fun.

Yes it is. The previous ski, the Rock'n Roll was similar, but they reduced the weight in the tip and tail so the performance is the same, but now it is a little easier to get back and forth and also will have a little more float in fresh snow. Super cool progression. Nice to ski.

This ski is the ski that every level of skier can have fun on. It carves, it floats in powder, it has pop for tricks. This ski has a light feel, as described in the in depth explanation above, and it really can rip. It is a ski for everyone. Wanting to try your first wider ski. Bingo! College student looking for one ski to have fun on in all conditions and enjoy a great season. Bang!
"It is really fun."
You will call this ski your weapon, as it is not a normal 95mm ski. HEAD made something special with this series.

I ENJOY skiing this ski so much. It is durable, having slid a few rails I can not tell, and I still love skiing it to the park and around the mountain just as much as jumping too. It carves like hell and full of life. So stoked I got it. HEAD makes the best skis. World Cup technology and experience in ski making history, in every ski.

Once you get frostbitten toes, you have to be very careful not to get it again. These worked great for my purpose and I would recommend them to anyone who just seems to have cold feet too. Solid battery life and easy to use. Just make sure to ready charging instructions so the battery lasts longer.

I bought these bags thinking I was going on a raft trip, but that never happened. So, I used them on a backpacking trip and packed my cloths in them and shrunk everything down. It made packing very easy and everything was separated. I was happiest when it started to rain and my bag got wet, but my cloths were dry. I did find that you have to pack them and roll them perfectly in order for them to hold, but non-the-less they keep everything dry and I was happy for that.

For some a light is a light, but the BD Spot is brighter then most. Also, the option for a red light, to save night vision, was a benefit for me and it works great. The few times I have been able to use this light people with me have commented on how bright it is.

Seems durable and I got it wet and there was no issue. The strap is comfortable too.

Best cook set I have ever used. My old one started to get a little nasty, so on a trip to Glacier National Park, I thought it was time for something new. I was amazed. It was easy to pack, very light, and had everything we needed plus some to make the meals we planned. Also, it was easy to clean. I would not use directly over a fire, but on the fuel stove it was perfect. Highly recommended.

I love it. We just went on a camping trip and the best thing that I noticed is that it takes up almost no room in my pack. It packs up so small that I had room for so many other things... Which can be bad, because your pack gets heavier, but such is life. Sleeping was great, although the material takes a little getting used to. I was so tired I don't think I moved so I was fine, but if you are a restless sleeper it could be annoying. However, it blows up to be like any other pad and I for one love it.

There is nothing worse then getting caught in a thunderstorm without any gear. I picked this little jacket up with the intent of using it in the fall, but I carried it in my bag and used it the other day when the cold mountain rain caught us and I was stoked to have it. It weighs near nothing, it kept me dry and packed back up small after. It may not look pretty, but function is everything sometimes.

I got these for my girl as I loved the color and had been waiting to be able to get this company/product int he US after seeing it in Europe. Cross has done their research and it shows. The materials are great, durable, and the fit is perfect. Not tight, not baggy, just enough to look feminine, but enough room to feel stylish and comfortable. Well, that is what she has said and I agree with the look. She loves them and I do to. Definitely worth it.

I vowed to ride my bike more this winter, so I needed a bag that could carry my computer/books and stay dry and durable. This was the answer and I have loved it. The strap is strong and thick so it does not dig into my shoulder, but all in all it has been great and the material is solid and resistant to the elements.

After years of abuse, my old bag was just not making the cut and my computer needed its own padded room. So, this bas caught my eye and it has treated me very nicely. Its fits all my gear and so far has been very durable. I wish there was a few more pockets for small stuff to organize, but other then that it has been great and does everything I need for a computer / school type bag.

Yes, its a pom pom, and yes its cool. The 80's style is enough to bring you back, but the color and feel of the tightly knitted material will assure you its from this side of the millennium. Retro style and futuristic material, this hat has style that you have to want to rock. I got one for the girl, and she pulls it off with ease. For me the black/grey pom fit my style and for her the kelly green/yellow looked best. Around town, driving to the hill in the cold mountain mornings, this hat feels great.
