How warm are these for Winter trips, such as Rainier? I live in Utah along the Wasatch mountains and play in the snow. How do they compare to the Nepal EVO GTX in terms of warmth? I am not a hardcore mountaineer, so the price on these are a little more appealing then the Nepal's.

Winter Warm?

Yes, I know there is no insulation in these boots. I am beginning to build my gear set, and really dont think I need/want the Nepal EVO GTX boot at 500 bucks!

I live in Utah, along the Wasatch mountains and plan on doing winter trips, as well as spring, summer, and fall.

Now, to my question: If I wear to wear a good expedition type wool sock, at least, as well as another if needed, would these boots do well?

Thanks.

Winter over night??

Has anyone used this pack for over night winter trips? I have the Marmot Lithium sleeping bag, and other backpacking gear. (its in the lightweight class)

How do you think this pack will do for an over nighter? Should I consider getting the Kestrel 48 instead?

4 5

This is my first headlamp and I have to say it is great. The only reason I gave it four stars is because when I turn it off, it resets to the spotlight mode rather then whatever mode was last used. Not really a big deal, but its just kind of annoying to cycle through the modes. Uses 4 AAA batteries and light outputs lasts a very long time. I am very happy with this lamp and will buy it again with out hesitation.
