NO!! This will NOT secure the fairing itself. It does secure the bracket to the crossbar but the fairing itself can still be removed. I used bolts (not Yakima provided) and nylock nuts to secure the fairing to the locked bracket (in place of the Yakima push-pins) ~~that probably will make it time consuming enough to remove that most any thief would look for an easier target.

Anybody who has used roof rack system knows they can really howl if you don't use a fairing. I didn't know there was a locking device for the fairing~~ until mine was stolen. The locking device only secures the mounting bracket so be sure to purchase 'difficult to remove' bolts & nylock nuts. None of this will stop a determined thief but anything you can do to slow them down will make them look for an easier target.
