Familiarity: I've used it several times

I admit it, I am lucky and spoiled. I own a drift boat and spend most of my fishing days in it. I don't alway wade fish but when I do I like to walk aways. These boots do both really well. Whether it is jumping over the gunnel 100 times a day to fish riffles, man to oars or an extended walk to quite waters. Light weight, comfortable with just the right amount of support. My running shoe size is a US 8.5 and I purchased US 9. A little tight for winter fishing with thick socks and waders but just right for summer wet wading.

When the blue wings start coming off on that snowy April day on the Green, you don't want to have to row off because you are wet and cold. You pull out your Simms Pro Dry Gore Tex jacket and start bringing fish to the boat. This jacket rivals the best ski jackets out there but is made for fishing with large pockets for fly boxes and waterproof cuffs. You don't need to use this jacket often but when you do it is nice to know you won't have to stop fishing.

Who would have thought to attach the baggies to a pair of bibs. Those guys/gals at Gore that is who. I love wearing bibs and I also wear baggies but sometimes the baggies slide down. These are sewn in a couple of strategic place to keep the baggies in place. Nice chamois and baggie short. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is the baggie legs are a little tight on me and ride up otherwise they are great.

Knee warmers will never garner the raves that a good pair of shorts gets. They do their job, keep you knees warm, and don't draw too much attention to themselves. That is what is great about the Giro Thermal knee warmers. They protect you knees when the temps drop, feel good on the inside and stay in place. The fabric resists snagging and tearing which is good when you are flying down your favorite singletrack.

I was a little apprehensive to purchase another pair of Hokas after my first pair wore out so fast but I am glad I purchased the Speedgoats. Light weight and just the right amount of cushion. The mesh uppers keep you feet cool in the summer.

This pad is really light for the amount of night time comfort you get. I thought it would be cold with no insulation inside but it is not. I haven't used it below 40 degrees though. I thought the pillow was a gimmick but it is nice. The foot pump allows you to inflate it without putting down your cocktail or run out of breath. I am a little suspect of the light weight fabric but so far no issues.

I like my cycling clothing to be a little more fitted plus my seat doesn't go up and down. These shorts are the best fitting shorts I have found. Not too baggy or too tight. The fabric is incredibly breathable and the waits adjustments do not create a ball of fabric when tightened. The inseam length is perfect, right at the knee. The chamois is great for most rides under 3hrs but I put on a pair of bibs if going longer.

I would have given this shirt 5 stars except it is a little tight through the shoulders/lats. on me. I wear mediums in almost everything so I was a little surprised. No biggie, fit is good otherwise and the fabric is light and has good breathability. Nice casual styling.

I'll admit it, I am old and my days of wearing a race kit are long over. Plus I don't like walking into the Hill Top Country Service store at the top of Soldier Summit for a Coke and a candy bar to finish my mountain bike ride and have the locals give me the stink eye. The fit is good although a little tight through the shoulders for me but the fabric breaths well and the pockets are great for those shorter rides to hold a gel or two. The hipster plaid patterns are nice.

I haven't used Tailwind on any really long rides(+8hrs) but for the 3 to 7hr range it is great. Now I don't know if I was feeling good those days or the stuff really worked but I felt great. Mostly I mixed it in a water bottle and carried a pack with water but I have used it exclusively with no water on a couple of rides. The taste makes you want to drink more which can only help with hydration and keeping your energy levels up. The Naked takes a little getting used to but the Lemon/Lime tastes great to me. I can't wait to put it in my water belt for Nordic skiing.

These would get a higher score but the ones I got have not been sealed well enough at the opening and keep splitting open in my pack and pockets. Otherwise they taste great, are easy to digest and provides just the right amount of boost to keep you going. Hopefully mine were a production mistake but I am going to put them in a ziplock from now on.

One of the few fuels I can eat at every point in the bike ride. Taste great early in the ride and later in the day when you can think of eating anything I can always get a packet of these down. No stomach issues either. Good mix of carbs. and electrolytes. At 160 calories they provide a bunch of easy to digest fuel

You could spend hundreds of dollars on bike shorts with fancy names but when you catch them on a sharp edge while strutting around your local coffee shop before your ride and tear a hole in them you will not feel so bad wearing these shorts. They have great fit and a nice chamois that will get you through the toughest of hammerfests while not breaking the bank.
