I boiled my choices to the Cerra Torre, Alpinist and Flylow Quantum. I chose the Cerra Torre and couldnt be happier (so far). I opted for the Gortex Pro Shell primarily due to its tested longevity and breathability. The jacket I must say is very nice. I'm going to use it primarily for skiing however rainy days, hiking, camping, mtn biking in rain, it will probably be put to good use. The material is excellent. The fit for me is perfect. I loved the fact it has lots of deep pockets, 2 chest, handwarmers, internal. The hood is excellent and the neck comes up pretty high when getting pounded by snowmaking guns on a frozen chairlift. I see myself getting many years out of this jacket.
Oh even better!
Please tell me this $500 tent is not made in China......
I purchased this jacket not really knowing what to expect except reading nothin but positive reviews on all of Flylows products. I was looking for a warm, preferably down winter ski jacket. I took the plunge and am not disappointed. I went with the purple and its a pretty nice color. As soon as I put it on, zipped up I could feel the heat. Fit is loose but not Patagonia "boxy" as others have reviewed. Hood is huge, easily fits over a helmut. Nice cuffs which easily cinch down nice. Powder skirt is great. Nice chest and two hand warmer pockets. My only reason for not giving this jacket 5 stars, no big inside pockets. There is a smaller inside pocket but if they put 2 HUGE goggle pockets inside I think this jacket would literally be the creme de la creme. I went back and forth with buying another Gortex jacket but had enough. This jacket fits the bill with its DWR finish. Bottom line, Flylow has made an excellent, WARM, down filled ski/board jacket and I see myself getting many years (I hope) out of it. Nice job.
I think the price tag of this jacket is a complete disgrace especially in todays economy. Give me a break. Says alot about a company putting this out there. I dont care how water proof their zippers are. Stupid.
whats the difference between this jacket and the Higgins? Why would someone buy this over the other.
I'm having a very difficult time paying the kind of money they are asking for with a product made in China. I dont care how well they are made, made in China tells you how well they are made. Getting sick of all of this.
I have the 2010 model. The warmest jacket I own. I'd probably shop a little more now if I were in the market for this type of jacket. I wish it had pit zips because after shoveling some snow I was soaking wet inside. Its not a long cut in the back. It can ride up like others have said. It compresses down pretty well into a nice little bag if your into this. Its a nice looking jacket. I like the bigger fleece lined chest pocket and handwarmer pockets. Some other brands give you these small non fleece lined pockets which are just a bitch. Overall I'd give this review 4 stars. I dont need/want the hood or I would have upgraded. If it had pit zips this jacket hands down would get over 5 stars. In fact, if MH ever redesigned this jacket keeping everything the same but added nice long pit zips, I'd donate my old jacket to the poor tomorrow and pick up the newer version. Dont give me this "it adds weight bs" just add the pit zips. Overall great jacket though.
What the difference between this jacket and the insulated primo down?
Nice shoes. Definately made for trail running. Used them at the gym, no problems. I wouldnt say they are as cushioned as a Nike Air Max but for trail running, hiking, etc they are probably one of if not the best out there.
These wheels are incredible. Been pounding on them for over 2 months now. Not a ding or dent. They are really the very best wheelset out there. I've had Mavics for years. Always tweaking this, adjusting that. Not with these. Everyone can hear me coming. Couple of my buds are hooking up with them now just so they dont have to listen to the zzzzzzzzzzzzzz......zzzzzzzz.....zzzzzzzz all the time on the trails. The Iodines are literally riding bliss. The very best wheelset for XC/all mountain riding.
This is the very best hydration pack out there now. Camelbak has dominated the market for years and yes, makes very good packs as well. However, I would highly recommend to anyone to go try one of these on and simply compare apples to apples. The pack is extremely comfortable. Personally I think more time went into the design of this pack than what Camelbak produces. I have 2 Camelbaks now, Mule & Hawg, which in their own right are very good. The Osprey however is a much nicer, comfortable pack. Well done.
Riding a 2.4 up front. I have to say that these are probably the best front tire you can have. I've tried them all from WTB to Kenda Nevs, the Ardent for me has been an outstanding front tire. I consider myself a strong xc rider, east coast. We deal with everything from wets, rocks & roots. I've pushed this tire unable to really find its limits. My main concern has been trying to find the perfect rear tire. Ride it on the front, inspires confidence, especially in the sketchy sections of any ride.
I've gotten some serious mileage on these so far being its only January. One word: ZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!! Thats pretty much what everyone else will hear when your comin at em. Loud rear hubs. Sweet wheelset. No issues to report so far. We'll worth the $900 I paid. Much better than any Mavic wheelset out there by far.
I really shopped around before purchasing this wheelset. I have to admit, I've only gotten a couple of rides in with the new set. So far they are just sick. Forget the looks of the burnt orange, they are stiff, loud and a lot of bling. More to follow this spring.....
Wife had to get one too in the cranberry. Now her friends want one too. It actually is a great looking jacket on her.
Perfection! Jacket is warm, stylish, functional. You know what they say when you try to grab a goat by its horns? Your gonna get tossed. This jacket is just another fantastic BC piece to put in my arsenal. Nice job BC.com!
Excellent product all around. Extremely comfortable glove. I would suggest some kind of liner. Not the warmest glove out there but they are warm. Looking for a liner now for extremely cold days. Couldnt be happier with my purchase though. Nice job Backcountry.com!
