Shaun's Bio

Utah native. I've lived in Northern tip and the Southern tip and explore everything in between. I've left for a few years, but I keep moving back for the mountains, deserts, and most important canyoneering.

After stop running in Mizuno a few years ago I decided to give this shoe a try. I'm happy with the updates Mizuno has done. I felt like the shoe gave me enough support but was not a heavy, clunky trainer. Mizuno claims U4ic midsole weights in 30% lighter and I could tell. I felt the shoes were light and fast and was an enjoyment to pound the pavement the few times I have worn these.

I've been happy with my purchase. I used this for a hot 50 miler trail run and I was surprised by how long these shorts were comfortable. These shorts are a little baggy compared to other running shorts. The 2 in 1 will be perfect for my high altitude trail runs. For really hot days I'll end of using a different short

I'm now on my second pair and loving these shoes. I was disappointed when La Sportiva got rid of the exum series. The Xplorers is a worthy replacement. I use these shoes for hikes, sandstone scrambling, and long approaches canyoneering. The athletic upper and stiff bottom is great for comfort on long approaches. If getting into terrain tough on the side of the shoes consider reinforcing the seams. If really tough & skiny off width stuff consider a different shoe designed for that type of terrain. I wear a size 11 (44.5) in a lot of brands but I like size 45 in La Sportiva.
