Great introduction to SUP! Light, durable, very stable and soft to land on.

Love the fins that pop in and out (we broke some) and the grippy deck - didn't slide a bit.

Drawback is that they don't surf well...kindof a wet noodle feeling and gets slow when the water gets fast. Aside from that it was a great downriver boat for all of us.

I borrowed a mini tripper for my cousins to use when they came up to the lake with their kids and the kids just could not get enough of it... were fighting over who got to go out next all weekend. It was so cool to see them work hard to get the children to paddle along with the group at first but then to see them want to go again later on their own. Next time they came up they had 2 of their own Mini-trippers so all the kids could paddle together - such a welcome treat for the adults to enjoy some dock-time peace and quiet :-)
The mini tripper is narrow and surprisingly fast. I paddled it myself (170 lbs) and love the speed and light weight although if a big boat went by I'm sure I would fill up. I would bet it's a fun boat for up to 130 lbs no problem.

During the summer my riviera gets LOTS of use, some of it even by me! It's always the first boat off the dock because it's light and drag-able and has that big handle on the front to make it easier to pull out of the stack. The dogs love the open top and so does my girlfriend - so she can lay back and get some sun along the way. Plenty of room for a small cooler or drybag, stable enough to stand up and paddle when you want to see down into the water better (with practice) or just climb up on a boat. With no holes through the bottom, you can stay dry if you are careful so we use it in winter unlike most any other sit on top I know. I've run some class 2 and also surfed some waves in it, but it's best in easier stuff.

While the Regal is larger and not quite as sexy as it's cousin the Riviera, it's also a more stable boat for larger people or carrying heavier loads. I take my 2 dogs out on the Regal no problem - one in the cockpit with me and the other on the gear deck on the rear - still paddles fine.

This is a boat I can stand up in to fish or relieve my self but not so slow that I won't take it for a sunset paddle. Great mix of light weight, stability, and ease of use. This is not a high performance speed machine OR a whitewater model.. instead it's just a great first kayak for calmer waters.

As a whitewater padder I don't expect much from the cross-over segment, I own a Carolina and never paddle it. But I tried the Rogue in the lake and then on some whitewater and WOW things have come a long way since the Carolina! Shorter, less effort to get going and paddle, still stable as a rock but now you can lean into the turns and actually carve one! By the end of the day I was boofing, running old school slots through rocks for fun, and even surfing some waves. If you just want to survive whitewater between ponds there are plenty of boats for that. But if you want to paddle whitewater like a whitewater boat AND have speed and stability for the calmer sections this is the ticket.
