Familiarity: I've used it several times

Lightweight enough to forget it's on, compressible enough to store it in one of the smaller pockets of your pack, and warm enough to keep you toasty on a good hike or a cross-country ski in the dead of winter. Layers perfectly with hard shell for cold rainy days. To top it all off, it's on sale. If you want a mid weight synthetic that'll look good on you, stop looking and buy it.

The only thing I've been missing from my system is a good, versatile all seasons midlayer. I run hot, like...furnace in your clothes hot, and I don't need much to keep me warm in winter or on those cool mornings or evenings. This is where the Microchill rocks. It's light, but provides a surprising amount of warmth. It also dries quicker than I expected. This shirt has rounded out my system. I can wear it under my Epic shell or under my Zonal synthetic if it's really cold. I haven't had it out during the Minnesota spring, but I can imagine it being excellent in those conditions as well. If you're on the fence, just buy it. It's a great shirt at a great price.
